🖨️ Printing and queue settings

Goal

Know where print layouts and queue-calling options are managed.

Before you start

Ask the clinic manager before changing a template, printer or queue setting. Test changes only with an approved sample record.

Do these steps

1. Open the internal templates

  1. Open Settings → Printing.
  2. Select Templates. Documents, labels and custom templates appear on the left.
  3. Select Doctor Report, Receipt or the intended template.
  4. Check the centre heading before editing.
Step 1 — Choose the template, then check its heading. Click the image to enlarge it on this page.

Step 1 — Choose the template, then check its heading.

2. Check paper and preview

  1. Under Paper Settings, check Width, Height and all four margins in millimetres.
  2. If you select A4, A5 or 50 x 80, check the resulting size again.
  3. Review the base font size and title, clinic, doctor, patient and signature fields.
  4. Read Preview. It uses built-in sample information, not a selected real patient.
  5. Save intended changes with Save Changes. Editing settings does not itself print a patient's document.
Step 2 — Check paper and preview again after selecting Receipt. Click the image to enlarge it on this page.

Step 2 — Check paper and preview again after selecting Receipt.

Interface language and document text are separate. After switching language, save intended edits and reload if field names still use the earlier language. The document body follows the template content.

3. Create a custom template

For the complete letter workflow, every available variable and examples to copy, see Custom printed letters.

The plus button beside Custom Templates creates a record immediately. Decide that a new template is needed before using it. Do not repeatedly press it to reopen the same form.

  1. Select New Custom Template.
  2. Enter a clear Template Name. The example uses DEMO English template.
  3. Review Enabled. This demonstration unchecks it to keep the example out of daily document choices.
  4. Check paper settings and the included fields.
Step 3 — Name the new template clearly. Click the image to enlarge it on this page.

  1. Scroll to Title Template and Body Template. Enter the intended content.
  2. Read the preview and check the title, body and fields. The sample patient is not the actual recipient.
Step 4 — Check the content as well as the template name. Click the image to enlarge it on this page.

Step 4 — Check the content as well as the template name.

  1. Select Save Changes.
  2. Reselect the named template on the left and check its name, content and enabled state. Both demonstration templates remain disabled.
Step 5 — Reselect the saved template to check the result. Click the image to enlarge it on this page.

Step 5 — Reselect the saved template to check the result.

4. Review queue-calling text

  1. Open Settings → Queue Calling.
  2. Read the available variables: {PatientName}, {DoctorName}, {Department} and {DepartmentLocation}.
  3. Find the text box for the intended language. Keep each required variable's braces and complete name.
  4. To test sound, make sure playback is appropriate, then select that language's Play Test.
  5. Save a changed text with Save Changes. It remains disabled if nothing has changed.
Step 6 — Each language has its own text and test button. Click the image to enlarge it on this page.

Step 6 — Each language has its own text and test button.

This walkthrough does not execute Test Print or audio playback. Printer pairing and external printer-service connections are outside its scope.

Check that it worked

The correct template or queue setting is selected for the clinic. Use only an approved sample when checking output.

❓ FAQ

Does changing a template print a document immediately?

No. Template editing and printing a particular patient document are separate actions. Preview a sample before the clinic uses the layout.

Does Browser print use the external printer service?

Browser print opens the browser or computer’s print workflow. Connecting external printer services is outside this guide.

What should I check when a queue display is wrong?

Check the selected clinic, queue setting and the appointment’s status. Use the clinic’s normal queue process while the authorised administrator corrects the setting.
